The Nurser Family and Braunston Dockyard

Built in 1939, Ironside was intended for another carrier but went into the ownership of Barlow’s after the outbreak of the Second World War.   She was paired with Beatty throughout the war  and until 1948.  Henry Monk was captain of the pair from new.
